Default Hatch opens when using the shifter

1995 Camaro V6 automatic. Whenever I use the shifter the hatch pops open. I can hear a ticking/pecking noise coming from underneath the car while driving it and it seems to ease up a little whenturning left. While driving it and I turn right I also hear thumping sound underneath the car kind of to the right rear side. About 4 months ago the center of the flexplate busted out and I had it replaced. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!!!

Sounds like the transmission wiring got crossed with the hatch release switch. Im probably wrong, but its possible the signal that's sent when you use the shifter is activating the hatch because of wires touching or a even a possible ecu short. Wiring harnesses get damaged occasionally during trans jobs. Saw it first hand when a local shop accidentally crushed my brother's harness.
