700r4--- 4l60e
I have a 94 Camaro z28, I am going to be draining the transmission for the first time (that I have had it). I am pretty sure it is a 4 speed (auto). I dont kave a clue whether it is a 700r4 or a 4l60e. The owners manual calls for 10 pts (5 qts). Dose anyone have an idea?

It'll be a 4L60E, though in this case, it doesn't make much of difference. The 700-R4 is the same as the 4L60. 92 and earlier are called 700-R4, 93 4L60, and then 94+ got the 4L60E. The only true difference between any one of these is that the 4L60E is electronically controlled.
4 = 4 speed
L = longitudinal (aka RWD)
60 =the power it's able to handle
E = electronically controlled
4 = 4 speed
L = longitudinal (aka RWD)
60 =the power it's able to handle
E = electronically controlled

Between an owner, and an owners manual, I tend to lean more towards the manual as being the more reliable source.

if the OP is reading
is there a reason you will be doing the partial change or is it just time?
If it's because the tranny is acting up, slipping etc, this won't fix it. It will take at least $700 to fix

I think BC may have gotten mixed up on what we're talking about. Haha.
But when I had my Buick it told me the air pressure in my tires was supposed to be no more than 25 psi. There were a few other things in it too that were wrong too.
