I have come to understand that not all 4th gen 4L60E trannys are compatible. I need one to replace the tired unit in my 96 3.8 RS.
What years are compatible?

 

Is rebuilding it out of the question? Did your car come stock with a 4L60E? I dont know much about 4th gens but it just seems as if that would be a very large transmission for a 6 cyl as its the same as my Avalanche. Regardless, i would look into the option of rebuilding, you should be able to get it rebuilt, usually if trasmissions are slipping its a fairly cheap rebuild.
