Stock shock upgrades
Ok so i need some better than stock shocks, performance and stiffness wise but cant afford blistiens etc. i have seen a set of gabriel, and a set of monroe on ebay at about $170 for a set and just wondered if you guys had any experience with these. If they are really rubish are KYB adjustables the best bet??
I've had all of those and now have the KYB adjustables and I would shell out the money for them, they are great. I had a set of monroe's last two months with regular driving, and another set lasted two years, so I don't trust them anymore. They were great while I had them, but I like the KYB ride better, and they are adjustable.
thanks for reply, at moment i have seen some kyb GR-2's which are stiffer than stock and half the price of the adjustables, has anyone had experience with these. i cant really afford the adjustable ones cause ive gotta ship them to the UK and customs charge more too
I have KYB GR-2's and they're a good shock. As for comparison between them and stock I wouldn't be able to tell you since thats what was on the car when I got it. IMO you can't go wrong with anything on the KYB shock lineup.
Link? I see the shocks for $21 a piece and the cheapest KYB GR2 struts are $90 a piece....thats @$220 for all 4...where did you get them for $146 for all 4 on auto parts warehouse site?
Many people compare a new set of shocks to the old worn out ones that were in the car, and make the assumption that since the new shocks feel better they must be better than what the factory installed. The DeCarbon shocks that GM put in the performance cars 15 years ago were as good ar better than most replacements, but the problem is that they are no longer available. KYB makes a good shock, but I prefer Bilstein as they give very good control and ride without the need to go around adjusting things.
