Rear end sway help
I think the axle shaft is bent, some one behind me told me the rear tire was shacking bad. I put the car up on jack stand and sure enough it is. So i took the wheel off hoping it was warped and put on a spare.. It did the same thing, so guess I need an axle shaft which sucks.
tire flexes, best to start lookin for a replacement. could go with a new or used axle or look for a complete unit 342 not so common or 323 most common. if you have a z28 you will want a limited slip (aka posi) center section. if using a used axle have it checked for trueness and a new bearing installed on it.

Thanks for the info. I'll probably go with a used axle since money is tight right now. No telling what a shop will charge to change it.
pick up a shop/repair manual. wellll if you have tools... not that hard to change axle. get car in air with extra support. pull tire and brakes off, pull rear cover off, pull keeper off axle at the center section, remove axle. pick up a new bearing and take good axle to shop and have it installed.

Yeah, i have all the tools and air tools needed. However its cold out and my garage does not have the space to pull the axle out(there is only about 4 ft on each side). I could do it in the drive way i guess.
measure the width of the car, axle is not quite 1/2 that and the rearend is a foot inside your fender. youll need a gasket for the rear cover, 80w90 gear oil, bearing oem# can be found here http://performanceworks1.com/PDF%20F...s%20Manual.pdf its a pretty big file. factory service/shop manual is best.
i like using the books but cd is priced pretty good. 1995 CHEVROLET CAMARO PONTIAC FIREBIRD Shop Manual CD | eBay
Thanks for all the help Craby.
I got it all ordered, i also ordered some posi additive. I got the axle for $20 and its supposed to be in great shape. The junk/salvage yards wanted $75..
