Default Cutting springs to lower the car?

Has anyone cut there coils to lower there car? Been thinkin about cutting a half or a whole coil off to lower the car. The guy who owned my car ten years ago just heated them up with a torch to lower it. Then he sold it to the guy who I bought it from and he didn't like it lowered so he put new stock springs on it.

I've cut springs with great results never noticed too much of a change in the suspension id start with half a coil first you can always cut more off but can never add material back.
