Default Camaro Rear End Housing????

I picked up the complete housing from a guy and he said it was from a 2000 Camaro. I got it for the posi and when I looked at it today I saw that the axels tubes are welded all the way around the housing with some other welding done to the housing. Is this the way all the rear ends are or is this something some one did??????

That perimeter welding is something someone did. From the factory, the tubes are only plug welded into the housing, one in front, one in back. Here's a good article on beefing up the rearend, also shows the axle attachment points: Strengthening The Rearend From An LS1 Firebird Formula - High Performance Pontiac Magazine
