Ha thanks. I lightly sanded the struts and painted them with my pink acrylic enamel. I didn't feel like taking them off, so I taped everything off around it. The alternator I just sprayed and kept the connector in the back covered. It's a little on the old side and will probably need replaced in a year or so, so it just got sprayed with the black engine enamel. Didn't bother prepping it or anything. I just kinda wiped some dirt off and that was it.

Ahhh ok. Yeah I wanted to paint mine today but didn't feel like taking them off either and considered doing that, but thought I'd find out if any1 else did it like that. Your pink acrylic enamel was sprayed onto the struts correct?
As for the alternator, I've read a few different ways of doing it but didn't know how each method looks when finished. So you didn't cover up the holes where the wire windings are at before you sprayed it?

Yeah sorry, it was a spray can. As long as the connector in the back isn't touched, it should be fine. Mine was just sprayed and it works fine. I would try not to spray into anything as much as possible, but it's ok if it gets some paint on it.

K thanks...sorry for all the questions on your Engine Rebuild Thread. 1 more: Do you know if Krylon Fusion Paint can be used for the hood struts? I don't know if I should just stick to high temp paint like Caliper or Engine Enamel or if I can use the Krylon Fusion with the same results. Its supposedly better for bonding with no prep.

You won't need high temp paint. And ALWAYS prep. Taking the time to prep things will always give you better and longer lasting results. No-prep stuff is nothing but BS. That Krylon should be fine to use, I used my acrylic enamel because it was what I used on my intake and valve covers, so to match it, I continued to just use that.
