You should get the car aligned. They may be able to make the car better but they can also tell you how bad it is. 1 inch off with most of the damage infront of the steering geometry may not be a problem, 1 inch behind the steering geometry is a problem. The car may seem normal to you but that does not mean the car is safe. If the car does not "track" (all four wheels in alignment) it can drive ok but in a emergency stop situation that car can be thrown into a spin. Here in PA any signs of frame damage or the fact the car does not track is a reason to fail a saftey inspection. As a mechainc it is the one of the few things I can fail a car for and I don't even need to know why it does not track.
Regrets after a problem can haunt you for a life time. I have seen it. There is no way to besure a loved one is safe on the road. But we need to make sure that machine is in the best condition to handle any situation it can be. Sometimes people forget that. A car that pulls to the left when someone slams the brakes is regret waiting to happen. Once the car is 100 or near 100 percent then worry about the paint.

I checked the links for the pics and they work for me in both Safari and Chrome. Link paths themselves are correct. Try a different browser maybe? No one mentioned which browser they're using that's not showing the pics.
2 things after reading this.
1. I'm now more happy i have 4 concreted in floor anchors in the garage.
2. I'm so happy i live out in the country, and not in a suburb with those stuck up snobs who can tell you what you can and cant do on property you own. I have never had any problems with my neighbors.
Great job on the car so far, glad you guys overlooked all the negative comments and people telling you what you "should" do.. Every one on this forum have been in the position of low funds and doing backyard work "others" would talk trash about... I used door hinges on a truck tail gate cause it kept falling off... matter of fact its the Chevy truck in the pic by my name(I'm not ashamed of it).

Well she's still running but definitely needs more attention in the alignment department, as we knew she would. My daughter has a couple people that have offered to do it for cheap, but even "cheap" is several hundred and coming up with the money is rough. We keep working towards it tho.
Can't say I agree with the red over teal, but to each his own.
Can't believe it's been a year since that accident. As much as I want to keep that car off the scrap heap, I can't see it lasting too much longer. It makes me so sad.
