Default Odd issue need advise, thoughts? Anything!

Ok, guys I am far from new to the F-body world, this is my second Z28 build. im very experenced in fabrication and welding. I got a really good deal on this car. Im more of an engine guy but this time I took on a car with 99,200 miles and some cosmetic issues.

Here is why I got a great deal on this car. The last moron of an owner cut the T bar out of the roof to install a sunroof. My plans are to weld in a T bar from a donor car that I do have. I also have found a full T top conversion for this car for 78$, counld pass it up. I know everyone says they cant cut up their car. My car is cut up im looking to fix it and make the car better.
I know this is a big deal but I feel it can be done. Thoughts?
The car

Terrible sunroof

A look at the abortion from inside. I started to pull some of the interior apart.

Most of the other cosmetics are interior parts and paint. other then that the car is strong and the drive train is mint.

This is exactly what I said. I cut the fiberglass roof off last night and started to fit the new tbar in.

Default Update, I saved her!!

Update!

OK, I have been busy as hell with this car trying to get it where I want it. Im building this car to be a daily driver. Not a show car but I want it to look good.

I tore the old roof off. When I started this thread I was going to make the car a hard top and call it done. Then I got this crazy Idea to make it a T Top car. I take my time and work at my own pace. I and an Auto tech by trade, I dont do body work at all. But I try like hell. PICS!!!

Fiber glass roof with terrible sunroof.

This is what I had to work with when the roof was removed.

Tbar beam was cut out of a donor car. This was the second attempt to fabricate it into the car.

Cut the sides off to do the t top conversion.

They fit!!

Not the best pic but you get the idea.

First bath with the new roof and no leaks. I love sucess.

Over all im very happy with the way the car is coming along, Next is the body work Im going to learn on this car I will be painting it sometime in the spring.

Great work! How does it handle? I thought factory t-tops had some sort of additional bracing, stronger doors or something like that...

IN the 4th Gen cars all bodies except for the convertibles are T-top cars. All the needed bracing is already in place. It looks like you did a very good job saving this car, the T-top conversion seems to have turned out perfectly.
