front seat stuck in far back position; how to remove?
Have a 1998 Camaro V6 convert. My soon to be brother-in-law moved the seat to the way back position - electric seats, it's now stuck there. All other controls move fine; just not back/fourth. I'm guessing a motor is burnt out, and not the switch, as the same switch/toggle also moves the seat up and down, and that works fine.
I bought a used track off of ebay that has all the goodies (motors, transmissions, etc). However, with the seat in the way back position, how do I get the seat removed? I've read you need to move the seat all the way fwd to get at the bolts.

Are you sure it's the motor to begin with? Sometimes thoese things get in a bind and just need to be released from the bind to start moving again. Can you move the seat up or down first then try moving forward. And are you sitting in the seat while trying to move it?

Did try moving while not in the seat, also moved the seat around in other positions, still no dice. I don't hear any humming, etc indicating it wants to move. At this point, however, have not ruled out any potential causes as i haven't done much in the way of diagnosis. Went ahead and ordered the rails, as I couldn't find them locally, and got a pretty good deal on fleabay.

^^^ You might be right ... however, for me to tell, I still need to be able to remove the seat. Which begs the original question/post, can you get to the rear nuts that hold it down if the seat is in the far back position? Is there any special trick needed to remove the seat if it is stuck?
The car is somewhat buried in the garage...want to understand how big of a project this is going to be be, as it's going to take some prep work, etc.

Ok so call me a liar, I had another idea....better than the sawzall even! You mentioned it's not the switch, but how do you know? It's a multi-position switch, so it is possible for it to work in some positions but not others if it got toasted. It could be a coincidence that the switch burned out when the seat was slid all the way back, but now you're blaming your future ex brother in law for breaking your seat!
Fish the wiring harness and plug out from under the seat, find a schematic to determine which wire does what, disconnect the plug, and jump power to the wire in question (forward control).

if the seat still goes up and down, just raise it all the way up, then go in with racket wrench.
but it can be down in the all the way back position, when i got my ebony seats form the junkyard, the guy working the lot had to get them out in the far back position, took a while , but was doable.

You have either a bad switch or the slider is stuck too far back on the rail. You must pull the seat forward manually while someone else holds the switch in the forward position. This happens when a larger than average sized person pushes on the floor with their feet so as to get every possible inch out of the seat. If it's the switch, then it's cracked inside the switch where the contact is made and it's just time for a new one. Good luck.
