Default Dash repair

Hey everyone! Looking to do some repairs on my sons 2000 camaro. I thought I had a good solution but it turns out it is for the hard plastic portion of the dash and I am looking for a repair solution for the soft cushion portion just behind the steering wheel. Looking for a good repair not just the cheesy dash pads

The only way I can think of to repair that kind of damage would be replace the crash pad with a new or used one. The edges along the split look to be curling up and I don't know any way to stop that from happening.

Thanks! It’s really the only thing wrong with this nice looking camaro! But replacing is a major project for me and my son. Been looking into cleaning the groove with a dremel and feathering the edges then filling with flexible bondo? The airbrush? May try it ?
