Default Center Console

Would a center console out of a 98 - 02 Camaro fit a 94? It's a manual trans console like mine. Thanks.

This is the one I'm looking at. Concerned about what looks like a cup holder in the front on the right side. Looks like tnat would be up under the dash. Also the 98 center dash part is much lower than the 94 since they relocated the HVAC controls to the lower part of the dash. This would leave a big gap between the console and the dash.

Yeah it does leave a big gap. If you search the net you'll find pics of it done before. Doesn't look that good IMO unless you do the dash as well.

I thought about swapping the dash cluster and console. I looked heavily into it on another Camaro I had. To make it look as nice as the original, you need to do a whole dash swap. Then you run into issues with the heat controls. There are other issues like the holes to screw it down are in different places. Can be done if your truly dedicated to the cause. I have a 94z and a 99z. I love the 94 interior look much better than the organic look of my 99. The 97 and newer dash looks exactly like the old caprice cars from 1977-1990. Square vents with a square drivers side cluster. Chevy totally lost interest in the camaro beginning in 97 or 98 because they already knew at that point they were going to kill the car for sure in 2002 because they knew it wasn't going to meet the new federal standards which were going into affect in 2003. So they just went with a tired old design of the past. My parents had a 77 chevy impala wagon bought new and had it for ten years. I'll never forget the look of that instrument cluster. It's identical to the 97-02 Camaro. When I first saw the dash of the 97-02s, I cringed at what Chevy had done. Sorry. Didn't mean to get off topic. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I decided against it. I was just looking for something a little more "beverage friendly" in the cup holder area and maybe a better place to put my cell phone. Right now, I took out the ash tray and just stick it in the hole there, but if I hit a bump just right it disappears...lol

Im actually doing the interior swap right now. Im going from my 94 interior to an 02 interior. I just got done swapping the center console today. Everything lines up well as far as the center console itself goes. It looks great already and honestly, the gap isnt as bad looking as you would think. Check out the pictures I have up under my gallery. I am doing the full dash swap though. Mainly because I am tired of the cracked dash pad of the 93-97 and I like the "camaro" on the front dash plate in the 98-02. I have the full set up. Even the ventilation and windshield pillars. It looks like there might be some bumps as far as bolting it up, but not many. Once you take out the old dash, you can move the climate controls to pretty much wherever including the newly relocated spot of the bottom. But if something doesnt bolt up just right, hey, there are always zip ties that no one will see.

97 dash is compatable with the 96 but not sure on the 93-95. 97 dash will fit in 93-96.

Im doing the actual dash today. Didnt have time to do it yesterday with the center console swap. (smokers that dont care about their car make for a huge clean up when things are taken out..) Ill put up some before and after pictures along with a couple comments on how hard it was to do the swap.
