1999 Camaro Bright Switch not engaging
My Brights lever has never engaged since new. I'm assuming that it is like most other cars and clicks when it is engaged. But all it does is pull towards the driver and go back into its normal position without any results. I replaced the whole lever today because it was all grimy, and I was thinking that it might help the problem, but it did not. So any answers would be greatly appreciated.

need to adjust the switch or replace it. the dimmer switch is on the lower columm down by your feet. need to drop the steering columm a little to get to em on the 93-97 i assume it is close to the same thing on yours. look in the manuals section and check.

Alright so I went down there and found the rod that engages the switch. I was able to move the rod and press the button, but when I tried to move the Bright switch ( Or blinker switch) it would not connect with the rod. Any ideas?

can you move it up or down to see if its contacting the blinker lever. move the lever as you move the bar and you should be able to feel the movement in the bar when its touching the lever. move it in that same direction (dont get carried away) and see if you can get it in the hole. might get lucky. i did when changing my switch.

I had no luck in trying to get it fixed that way, so I took apart the steering assembly, and found that for some reason that the lever wasn't hitting the little black piece to move the rod. I'm gonna take a look at that in the morning as for now I am fixing a wire on the ignition cylinder that someone cut itself on a piece of plastic. Frustrating, but very interesting and fun to learn about this stuff.

that file is so much faster when its on the computer. at least it is for me. i did part of one and its much easier to work with. took forever to transfer on this old mac.

Alright so the whole ignition didnt work out as I was putting it back in the wires came out of the cylinder, so i went and bought a new one from autozone. But another question is do i need to get a special key made with the VATs on it? The keys that came with the cylinder work to turn it, but I dont know much about this?
