it depends highly on your area. unfortunately your friends car was newer, and is a pontiac. the trans ams were generally a little more expensive given a similar z28. when i go to buy a car or sell a car i generally dont try to get much out of it in terms of mods.

Blue Book

i gave that car several options not standard. and its got your mileage. if you want beat this price by much your best bet will be to market it to a performance crowd ie. put it on forums. you may get a couple grand over the bluebook value.

to be honest i think your buddy got lucky for 17k, but you never know, there are people out there willing to pay that and some like me that are just more stingy. you may get lucky too.

You would be lucky to get $12000 IMO. 98's are considered the worst year, and you mods actually hurt value, esp the nitrous kit. Many people are scared away by cars that have had nitrous on them.

98 were the worst because they were the first ones made that year for that 98-02 maros. Cars that are the first ones made tend to have more bugs and issues. Not saying that 98ss4REAL camaro has issues but just in general. I would take off the nitrous and I would never let anyone know that the motor had nitrous on it. The general publi believes that NAWZ will automatically kill a motor which we all know is not true. As said above I think your friend was blessed to ger 17k. Mods really dont help a car that actually depreicate the car some in my opinion. I wouldnt buy a too deeply moded car off someone because the first thing I will think is "this guy def raped, raced and ravaged the car." I think 10-12 is your range. you got a real clean car to. Have you thought to ebay it. Its summer time so I know some young 15 1/2 year old sophmore in high school would have mom and dad break the bank for him

Because the ECU was not as advanced in them, it makes tuning them a little bit harder. Plus the heads were not quite as good as later years.

i believe the insides of the heads were the same, they just used perimeter bolts and didnt have the coil brackets..... maybe a couple other placement issues of things, but it just made themmore work to deal with than the 99+ cars. the ECU just doesnt have the same safety features, so if you are tuning and arent careful you can fry it.

Yeah the first thing I think when I see a highly modded car for sale is "he probably ran the hell out of it or broke something amd didn't want to fix it". I'm not saying your car was ran like hell but that's what I usually think. Good luck and it's good to hear someone going back to school and trying make something of themselves rather than settleing for a regular job and just getting by like most.
