Default Window Tint

Okay its a long shot but here goes. A few years ago there was a company that made custom tinted windows for Camaros and Firebirds. The glass itself was tinted which got you out of tickets because it wasn't tint film. A buddy of mine was showing me his car yesterday and it had that tinted glass installed. The previous owner of his car purchased them and had them installed so he has no idea where they came from. I really want my front windows tinted and here in Iowa tint film on the front windows is illegal. So if anyone knows where to get tinted windows for an f-body please let me know.

Thanks

i believe it is called tempered glass, my buddy installs them, they are expensive and yet STILL ILLEGAL tint is tint, they dont care that its a film or a shirt blocking their view into your car, this just means when you do get pulled over for the windows its going to be MUCH more worse than if it was just a film

Here in Vt the film is illegal but if it comes factory or is in the glass its fine and they wont bother you.

How we get away with that is because we dont have a "tint" law here, we have a obstruction of view law which states that nothing can be stuck or placed on the windshield or windows to the left and right of the driver. This includes radar detectors, GPS units or fuzzy dice hanging from the rear view lol. So thats how they get us here on tint cause its stuck on the window but if its the glass itself and nothing is put on it by law they cant bother you. Or at least in VT thats how it is. I would check your laws there to see what how it reads tho before spending money on the windows. If you find them let me know cause i would prob be interested in them myself.

Most state officers cannot pull you over for just the tint. I have been pulled over for headlights out and they did not mentioned my limo tint on two occasions.

Wow you've gotten pulled over for headlights out? Did they give you a warning to get them replaced? I don't even drive with my headlights on half the time. The road I take home from my girlfriends house every night has street lights like every 30 feet so I don't even turn them on. ( I also go home at 2am so no one is on the road ) Tempered Glass sounds right carnage, I just need to find where to buy tempered windows for my car. We have a tint law in Iowa that specifically states tint and tempered glass is not considered "tinted" by Iowa standards. If it really becomes a problem I'll just register my car in Illinois and then let them try and write me up. Only downside there though is if the license plate petition goes through in Iowa, thats gonna suck really bad having a car registered in Illinois.

There is a big difference between tinted and tempered. Tinted glass when you roll down the window you can see about a 1/4" tall line where there is no film at all. Tempered it looks smoked from the inside so there's no line.

Warnings both times for the headlights. But you have to get another cop to sign your ticket to verify it was fixed...
