I have a 2000 SS with the stock rearend, i have a hardend rear dif cover, custom trans, zoom stage 2 clutch, fidanza stage 2 flywheel, k&n intake, hp tune, egr and o2 delete.
I was planning on adding the Magic Stick 3 Cam this winter, but i drive my car everyday and run it at the track every couple weekends in the summer. WILL IT HOLD OR WILL IT BLOW?

honestly, the more you launch it hard, the more stress you're causing on the rear end. i could say yes, it blows, then i'm a liar. i could say no, its last forever, then i'm a liar.

only way to find out is to try it. i'd start saving money for a 12 bolt or 9" though

 

well i know its gunna be harder on it and an upgrade is needed but theres a guy on youtube who runs a 10.90 at 125 and he claims hes still on stock tranny stock rear end,,, Idk,,,

 

manuals are a lot harder on the rear than the autos due to the higher gears and droping clutch launches at 4000+rpms. Im planning some prefornace adders and have had to bite the bullet and realise i need to sort my diff and auto box first. Otherwise ill get the cam etc.. get the power and run it on the track and the drive train will poo itself!!

 

The higher gear part of your argument isn't exactly true since the 4L60E first gear is retardedly steep compared to the T-56 (3.X vs 2.66).

My view on this... Can your rear end handle it? Normally, yes. Hard launches on sticky tires? Definitely not.

 

i plan on doin a 2500 or 3000 stall so thats what im looking at for launches on the track and i run mickey et streets all the time, track or street

 

yer i understand what you mean about the gearbox ratios, but i mean actually in the rear, if you get a numerically higher gear in the rear, you have the same torque (or whatever) in a short period of time. I cant really explain what i mean, but when you gear down there is more turning foce on the gear, plus i think there are more teeth for numerically higher gears (4.11 vs autos 2.73s) for example.

Dark knight, id run the rear till it breaks just make sure you have a backup, you can get salvage 10bolts relativly cheap with diff in them but you'll keep breaking them until you get a 12 or 9".

Im just gonna run mine until it gives up

 

i plan on doing the 373 gear, with my gt 10 bolt dif cover, and the just doing the cam,,, after that would be the rear end, i just hope itll be ok on the track for a few time before i get the 9"
