i know someone with a rear from an 89 trans am. its posi with 2.73s. would this fit in my car? 94 v6. (wasnt sure if it was labeled havent been on here in a while)

 

I think the mounts are different between third and 4th gens but im not sure

 

i think one gen is wider than the other, 3rd's i think

 

I thought the 4th gen is wider than the 3rd by a couple of inches. The 4th gen wheels have a bit more back-spacing (about 1.5 inches) than the 3rd also.

 

i looked on wikapedia it says the 4th gen is like 74 inches wide and the 3rd gen is like 72. im not sure if it will bolt up though and also it has 2.73 gears would that work with my 6?

 

It'll work... Just be incredibly slow off the line lol...

 

It may work but i would not recommend it. Not sure on the year of your car but most of the 3.4 fourth gens came with 3.23. If you can find a rear out of a Y87 package 3800 series they come with a Zexel-Torsen LSD and 3.42 gears the same that is used in the LS1 cars. You can pick them up for just a few hundred bucks and pull them from any LS1 based F-body or a Y87 package car.

that would be a U not a O spec, why do you want to put a 3rd gen gear end in anyways?

 

Its kind of like a turbo but works off the black hole created by the gutted cats the vacuum that is created is so great that it sucks the air out of the engine creating unnatural power never seen before on this earth......[X(]
