Will 94-02 Gauges work on a 93?

As you all know i have a 93
i have all white interior light parts for my car from random camaros except the dash, still yellow![Icon No](https://camaroforums.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_no.gif)
so will one from a newer car work on mine?
i know there are a lot of wires back there
also my speedo does not work right so would this effect it?
and obviously it would have to be from a Z28 or SS

If you got new gauges they'd have to be from a '94-'96 car. '97 up cars have a completely different IP, so the gauges are a different shape. If you want to just change the color, it's probably just easier to swap the bulbs.

really? huh, learn something new every day haha. Look for a '94-'96 gauge cluster then.
Actually, now that I think about it, idk if the wiring would be the same in the '95s or '96s ('95 was OBD1.5 and '96 was OBD2, so idk if those affected the gauge clusters...might want to check that out first).

93 has a unique cluster as far as I know. 94-96 are the same, and 97-02 are the same and not compatable with the older ones.
As for the diagnostics system in the car a 94 is indeed OBDI but it was the first year of a PCM. The 93 had a 4L60 (700R4) trans and the computer was called a ECU. The difference between the 2 is simple. The PCM is a Powertrain Control Module, it has EEPROM (Electronicly Erasable Programable Read Only Memory) memory (like a flash drive) that holds the fuel maping and trans shift info. The ECU is an Electronic Control Unit, Which does not have programable memory but the fuel mapping is located on the main processor chip. This chip is a EPROM (erasable programable read only memory) These chips require special equipment to erase them and reprogram them.

You can probably swap in the whole cluster from a 94 and later car.
I have noticed that 93s have yellow lettering on the gauge faces while all later cars have white lettering. I thought the yellow lettering looked cool and wondered why Chevy changed it.
Grab a 94 cluster from a junkyard car. Around here they go for less than $50 in a U-Pull-It yard and there are quite a few of them.
There are a lot of wiring connections to a cluster but they're in one or two big connectors so it's an easy swap to do.
Manufacturers don't usually make radical changes in wiring pinouts because it's senseless and costs money. Unless Massey know that the wiring connections are different between 93 and later years...

I like having my yellow gauges. They were the only 4th gen year that was yellow so, Its unique. I wouldnt change it myself but everyone is different. Even if it did have 20 bulbs, they would only be like $1 each. But, the bulbs wont change the color in the daylight.
