In 1995 Camaro had 2 V6 options. 3.4 and the all new 3800.
1995 with the 3800 would out run the monte on paper becasue the monte is heavier. The 1995 3.4 would get spanked.

Yea thats what i was figuring. I read that the 3800 series II cars(what my 200 pontiac bonneville has actually) only came out in california though, so I doubt the one im looking at up in PA has it. Im gonna check with my mechanic tomorrow, ill be much less interested in the car.

If you are looking at buying IMO it is worth the wait for a 95-02 3800.
The car tuned out to be the 3.4 l, but its stuffed in a corner of my mechanic's lot. Its pulling at my heart a little, don't want to see a camaro just rot. How much of a difference would it be? I've driven the 99 monte carlo a few times so I know how that handles.
Is the 3.4 they put in the Camaro the same one they put in the Lumina in the early 90's? DOHC they put in the Lumina Z34. My parents had a 4 door Lumina Euro with the 3.4 in it. It was a perfect little 4 door midsize sleeper.
if you can look into the mirror and accept that without spending significant dollars, you will never have a performance vehicle, then get it.
Do not come back and ask about bolt ons, or ways to increase perfromance. You will be outperformed by minivans so you must accept that, or wait until you can afford what you actually want.

You can spend a lot of money trying to get a 3.4 faster and never reach what a stock 3800 can do. On the other hand the 3800 responds to mods like headers and CAI pretty well. Getting a stock 200 HP 3800 to 225 HP is not that hard.
