According to my 98 owners manual, the compact spare can be driven up to 3000 miles at up to 65 mph (50 mph, if on the rear)

Yeah, these compact spare tires are just a pain. 50 miles at 50mph is my rule.

I'm from the tire/tube generation, (OMF), and believe me, a full size spare was a necessity. Bias-ply tires with cotton cords were like magnets for nails, thorns and glass.

The last full size spare I had was on a brand new '91 S-10 four door Blazer.

With auto clubs/towing the way it is now, a spare is almost useless in an urban, suburban setting. Just gimmie the trunk space.
