Hi, I recently brought my 1994 z28 to a shop to have the air conditioning fixed. The shop wasn’t able to do it, stating they need the high-pressure service port that is no longer available and they can’t find it. Does anyone on here know where I can find that part or a suitable aftermarket replacement? Even used could work. The guy at the shop says I need to replace the whole line, it doesn’t have a Schrader valve. I need the line that goes between the condenser and the dryer.
I assume that whatever is stuck in the high side port is leaking. I also assume that if you take that, whatever that is, in your port out the port is messed up inside.
The simple fix is to just braze the port closed and fill the system from the low side. That should not be done by someone that does not understand how AC works. I do not think the tech you have is fully trained. Making and repairing lines was like week two of training. It just brazing aluminum. I like the white alumibraze you can get from Harbor freight. I did not learn tig welding yet but I have seen guys tig weld aluminum soda cans back together watertight, these lines should be easy.
Making a line is easy or you could just pick up one at a pull it lot. That line is so short the chance of a stress crack is very low. Search youtube on how to make AC lines. Many classic car kits just come with rolls of hose and ends so you can make up your own lines.
It seems like it shouldn’t be very complicated. I placed an order on a new part from worldpartsdirect, still waiting for shipping information to see if it is actually available.

Well it’s back to searching for the part, I called to verify if they have it and was told it wasn’t seen in inventory. Maybe I’ll have to have it custom made or braze the part that I have.
call local wrecking yards and see what they got. maybe try this place https://car-part.com see if something comes up.
Thanks, I tried that one and also junkyarddog. I’ll just have the local hydraulics place fix it after I get it back from the garage. They are still trying to fix the skip, it is barely doing it after replacing the spark plugs and wires. The mechanic says he has it narrowed down to one cylinder and it is probably something simple like an injector.
yep I sent my injectors in to be cleaned and flow tested when I was looking for an issue with fouling plugs and two were un savable the rest where not happy.

The mechanic said the opposite, there was hardly anything on the spark plug. Like it isn’t getting much fuel or air. Whatever it is I figure he will figure it out eventually. This is why I bought a new car.
Lean (low fuel volume) would make a white spark plug. Lean can damage an engine and no fuel should cause a misfire code in the computer. A simple way to test for one bad injector is to simply switch injectors and see if the issue follows the injector to it new issue.
A mechanic called me for an update yesterday. He said the next thing will be to check the cap and rotor. Says he’s pretty sure he’s going to be looking into the optispark. I guess the good news is it has an MSD on it and they have a lifetime warranty so he can replace the part for free because he has a good relationship with O’Reillys. He seems to know his stuff, says in his 40 years of working on cars he hasn’t lost a car yet.
