Wheel and tire shopping

Wheel and tire shopping
I went shopping for wheels and tires today.I got conflicting info from the tire shops.I'm going to buy a set of chrome 18" z06 wheels. I want to run 245/45 up front and 275/40 in back, a few shops said I would get rubbing issues. Is anyone running this setup? The quotes were between $1200 AND $1700 installed with either nitto's or sumitomo's.Does that sound right?Right now I'm running 245/35-20 all around with no rubbing

RE: Wheel and tire shopping
All it takes to run 315s is a little banging on the inside of the wheel well and grinding down one bolt head that might stick out too far. Just remember that you get interference in corners when the car suspension shifts, so bang more and grind more than required for adequate clearance when the car is just sitting in the driveway.
Note onthe Chrome Zo6 wheels. Alot of the inexpensive ones (and the price you quote inddicates you are not too far from that range) are cheaply done: either cold plating in which case the chrome chips off (by itself) in about 18 months if you live in the northern US where roads are salted, or about 30 months if you live in the south, or the chrome is oven heat bonded in which case the chrome sticks forever but the heat treatment is overdone and has weakened the forged wheels' strength. The poor chrone is just annoying, but over-heat-treated wheels can be serious they don't come apart when you are doing 35 down a quiet street, they wait to fail without warning in the middle of a hard sweeping highway on ramp you're taking at close to 1 G and you get hurt. Hate to see that happen to you.
