whats a good tire size
Ok, I have a 1996 camaro, I put 17 inch pacer cobra R rims on it about 10 years ago. When I did the tire shop recommended I use 255/45 r17, I got the bf goodrich g force kdws. They dont make them in my size anymore, which is a shame cause they worked great for me. But now I am looking for more of a driving tire, and not a high performance one. I drive the car all year round and am looking for a new tire that is good in the rain, maybe a dusting of snow if I get caught out in it, and still has maybe a little performance with out a 170 bucks a tire price tag. Can anyone recommend a tire to look at or possibly a more popular tire size since the 255/45r17 seems to be hard to get ahold of for me.

These do quite well for me and I put 'em on both my cars. If you don't get a huge amount of snow they'll do you fine, although more than a couple inches and you're gonna want something designed for the season. Although, they are a little on the pricey side for your size.

Yea I looked at those when they first came out, I needed two tires and couldnt find them in the right size, I was able to find what I was told to be the last two g force kdws in 255/45zr17's for 60 bucks a piece. I am not sure if I would be able to get them outside of tirerack.com in that size. Not to mention that I would have to pay another 20 bucks a piece to get them mounted around here. What if I switched to a 245/45 r17 tire, it would only be about 3/8 of an inch smaller. Also, has any one tried the new sumitomo tires, the htr a/s seems like a decent tire for the price from what the reviews on tirerack say?
