Question is, are you getting a lower profile tire so that the overall height matches stock? Otherwise you may need to recalibrate for your speedometer which could be off due to poor tire selection. I read some folks have had ABS problems if there is a mismatch with front and rear overall height being off.

The over all diameter effects the power but not the rim size. Infact if you are building a drag car you want smaller rims and larger tire to get a better launch so I ask "how is 18" rims over kill on a v6"?

I can't stand the look of 18's or larger. To me 18's on any car but an import is like 24's on a Escalade. IHMO it just looks ridiculous, and riceish.
