Default What rears are you all running ???

Ok everyone, when in back home to UK i have a huge mods list to push 450 rwhp, full top end job. Anyhow, my 10 bolt is way past its best now so i have 3 options in what i think is my best most cost effective order, remember i live in UK so double the US price as i have to ship:

1: Auburn Pro ( or other clutch type) rear for 10 bolt axle case with 3.23 or bigger on an A4

2: Ford 9" from a mustang??? ( can i get one from a new shape 05-09?? as i have access to salvage ones over here). Has anyone done this? does it bolt straight up. Im not bothered about doing the work just want to know what to expect as i use the car daily

3: Moser (or other) full 12 bolt, will ave to get from US

Thanks everyone!!

Correct me if I am wrong but doesn't Moser make an F-Body bolt-in 9"?? Might be a bit more spendy but much easier.

A 12 nolt would be a good choice too. Go with the 3.73's if your doing the change anyway.

yes there's 9" that they make for f-bodies

i highly doubt the 9" from a mustang would bolt right up but i guess i'm not sure.

most people use 12 bolts, but a 9" would probably be easier to change gears

I would look into a Moser 12-bolt if you're not interesting in swapping ratios easily. If you want to pay a little more price premium for the 9" that Moser offers for the F-body to swap gears you could go that route. Needless to say, you're not going to be breaking either of those rearends anytime soon. You could also think about a Strange S60.

what about the strength of an aftermarket unit in the 10 bolt, the auburn pro? or other, its by far the cheapest for me to ship over as id rather spend moser money on my engine

Run it til it shreds then go with F-body 9" thats my vote. or consider a cheaper route of rebuilding the factory rear end with better parts? Ive seen stock rear ends take a good bit of power with a few select upgrades.

With an auto and stall you can make the 10 bolt live. You need a solid pinion spacer insyead of the factory crush sleeve and you need gears properly set up.

I've had the 10 bolt living in my car with the M6 and GM 4.10 gears for 4 years now.

It will work fine for an auto on ET's.

dont waste money on the 10 bolt a new aubern posi will break at some point wat makes it weak is the size. theres things u can do to delay the break. as far as rears 9" is your strongest choice. then the s60. 12bolts last but get some wine after enough track time
