If the gears are messed up, how would I get that checked? So the transmission could be messed up?

You should only be using overdrive when you're on the highway or cruising interstates and stuff. It's easier on the gears at those speeds, but not very beneficial when in town driving or slower speeds.

Been keeping it in drive unless i'm going 50mph+ and runs fine, hasn't jerked yet but made the gurgle noise a few times. I'm going to guess thats from an air leak or something loose somewhere.

Been searching on google and ppl who had the same problem said they fixed it by changing transmission fluid (i'm afraid to do that from stories and stltuff i've read) and changing the plugs & wires. But I had all that changed back in august. but everyone says its not a transmission problem.

And it seems to vibrate more in drive. Like the car is one huge vibrator lol

do an old style fluid change. drop the pan and change the filter and refill. its the flushes that are more likely to have a negitive effect on an aging trans.

Ok thanks. I'll look up info on how to change it. Never changed transmission fluid before.

Also, in drive, when coming to a stop & taking off from a stop, it'll vibrate real hard and starts to buck a little.

Sigh, I hope this is an easy fix.

the mess is the hardest part, theres no drain hole in a stock pan so you gota take the trans pan off while its full of fluid. its pretty easy after the that. just replace filter and pan gasket look for any signs of metal in oil or at the bottom of the pan, clean pan and put it back on. i have torque specs somewhere for the pan bolts. this came from the how to change a transmission sticky. its in the how to and faq sticky at the top of the 4th gen section.

Thanks for the info.

I think I am going to wait and change the fluid as my last option. After sitting at a red light and feeling how rough it sits @ idle, I'm going to assume this is a spark plug or ignition problem. When it idles rough, I keep thinking it's going to stall or something, from how it feels.

I dug through all my receipts I kept and found where I purchased the spark plugs, and I had them changed in June. I don't know why I was thinking August. So, after 5 months, and so many many miles later, I'm going to assume they need changed again.

If that doesn't work, I'll try the transmission fluid. Cause I checked the stick and it's still red, doesn't smell burnt, and is full. I am going to rule that out right now.

And I noticed it does still jerk in drive, but not as bad in overdrive.

I remember when I had the plugs, wires, and fuel filter changed, everything went back to normal. I'm going to get it all replaced again asap.
