so i got to powing around and the rear speaker covers are basically fake and have sound deadening over the holes. i have a sub box in the trunk on the drivers side and 2 front door speakers and the stock cd player. there are no wires to the rear speaker locations and i would like to add some 6x9s , got some nice alpine type s begging to be used

Three speakers is all that comes with the Bose in 94. The speakers, one in each door, and the sub in the back are equipped with integrated amps. The head unit is only a preamp and can't drive speakers directly.

Yeah, I made this unhappy discovery with my 94 as well. Cars with the base radio got 4 speakers (2 door, 2 back seat) while the optional Bose system got you just 3 speakers (2 door, 0 back seat, 1 sub way in the back).
Owners must have complained about this because Chevy changed the Bose system for 95 to include 5 speakers (2 door, 2 back seat, 1 sub way in the back). None of the speakers, however, were carried over from the 94 Bose system to the 95.
When I find a 95 or 96 donor I'll pull the whole Bose system and install it in my94.

You can easily swap the Bose cassette for the Bose CD. That's what I did with my 94 with code UU8 (but the PO had an aftermarket system installed when I bought the car).
ETR means electronically tuned radio.
