what am i looking at?
hey guys, im planning on taking the flowmasters that came with my car off and replacing them with SLPs, what kind of tools am i gonna need? and whats the basic job needed to get it all done? is it something that would be more beneficial takign to a shop to do or should i do it myself (or with soem friends)
You'll need a socket set to undue some bolts...If you're not very experienced it may take you some time, but a cat-back isn't that big of a deal. I can't remember off the top of my head, but I believe the cat-back section bolts onto the cat with a flange so you shouldn't even have to weld anything, just unbolt the old system and get it out of the way and then put the new one together. The new system should go together with clamps, so no welding needed there either.
it its already a cat back on there then he wont need to cut the pipe over the rear axle it will come apart and come out like it went in, depending on condition of course, if its all rusty then of course that wont happen.
It would be best to take it to a muffler shop to have them put it on. All they do at those places everyday is put pipes and mufflers on cars. Unless you know how to weld thin pipe it just pay someone else to do it. Chances are that people that do their own exhaust do it so its two bumps from falling off.
