WAT WOULD YOU DO IF YOU HAD...
What's wrong with Hooker headers or Flowmasters? If it's my money, why should you care? I happen to like those two brands and so do thousands of other people. The reason I said a short throw shifter was because the stock ones (at least on the '93-'97 models, I don't know about the later ones) are quite literally about a foot tall and are like some huge prehistoric lever or club. I don't play "Gran Turismo" or even know what it's about (aside from the fact it has something to do with cars). I've never even had a game system (unless a computer counts but even then I don't play games on them, except Boxhead, but that's about killing zombies and you can never win so that shouldn't count). Porting and polishing heads is just a way to save money so that I wouldn't have to go buy some new heads and it's a common way to get some more HP out of a car. I didn't list what I would do to them (valve springs, rocker arms, etc.) because I didn't think about it (but I would if I were to actually do it). I said true dual exhuast because I'm not a big fan of a Y-pipe that sends a single tube through a single muffler. It was just some stuff I wrote down and didn't really think about. Relax, no need to flame me. If I actually did do this I would put a lot, lot, lot more thought and effort into it but I responded in about thirty seconds. When I do shop for stuff for my Camaro I look around for the best stuff, get opinions, do my homework, etc. But the person who started the post just asked what we'd do if we had 3,500 and a LS1 Camaro, neither of which I quite have (I have a Camaro and money, but not a LS1 and not that much money currently in the bank). What about the guy who said twin-turbos? Why didn't you flame him? It takes just as many changes (maybe even more) to twin turbo an engine then it does to stroke an engine. He didn't even list anything other than twin turbos just like I only listed a stroker kit. Just relax man, no need to get so uptight about it. (P.S. K&N sucks nuts, their filter cleaner screws up MAF sensors and they don't flow or clean air as well as other filters)
Well the twin turbo thing obviously was a joke...I mean a good complete system will run you about 4-5k...if your putting in 2, well thats clearly waaay out of price range. But the stroker thing seemed serious and to put that on a primarily stock-ish LS1 just made no sense. Flowmasters are good sounding but are cleary known to rob power. But since people who don't know about them see flowmaster stickers everywhere and muffler shops praise them like A-La, most who have them are noobies. Hookers are at the bottom end of the acceptable LT's to put on your car. Mainly due to small primaries and because of some special thing that other headers do near the collector point that has a special name that I can't remember, but anyways Hookers don't do this.
Long shifters are a problem in all 4th gens, but to mention that and a stroker kit just seemed way to odd. Your comments just seemed very -I'm in my junior year and just got a Camaro! I am Fast and Furiously cool! And now know all there is to know about cars and woman...digitty! Anyway you have only 3 posts, you had to be hazed. Welcome aboard

id get a factory stereo, SLP lid, corvette fuel rail covers, tint on the side windows(backs already done),top of the line seat covers, car cover, pay forthe installation of my new steering column, a top of the line security system, and shave my door handles and get an electric door opener(using a high torque solenoid).the rest would go towards gas cuz its going through the roof. and btw pepsi sucks...vanilla coke all the way. Okay, well thanks for a sound thrashing. I probably deserved it. I don't know too terribly much about cars, but women....... (kidding) Oh, and I do believe that Dr. Pepper or Vitamin Water will blow Pepsi or Coke or Vanilla Coke out of the water any day.

96 camaro....rebuild the motor. put in dome je piston heads. eager rocka arms. head job. comp cam, coated hooker heads, cherry bomber exhaust, maybe rims and tires with hawk break pads. and if got some left over, maybe a lil stereo system with no sub woofer! i don't know, just me!
I don't know anything about you, but for some people, that $3500 probably pays for a year or two of insurance so that they can drive their Camaro.
I'd stick it in a 6 month or 1 year CD until I knew what I really wanted to do with it.
If you own a house, it is about 10% down on a decent garage.
If you have a garage, it will cover a good lift and a bunch of tools.
If you have a great garage, it will probably cover a drive-on four post and a two post (if you work the deal right) so that you can have the extra storage and the working lift for when you need to drop that engine to do some work on it.
