Default um, oh crap i have a hole.....

so about a week ago i started to here a noise, it sounded like metal hitting together, like a rock in a soda can. tonight i put my car on ramps and come in under the right side and start looking, i saw something that made me crap my pants.

that's a hole....in my transmission. i have no clue how long it was there. its about an inch or so. i look at at flywheel cover and it looks like a bomb went off in it,

yes, there are holes in it. the torque converter looks beat up too

from what i can tell this little tiny SOB did most of it

OK so, where did that come from? i cant see anything missing bolt wise, that little bolt didn't cause that big hole in the transmission. i know this isn't a lot of info, but that's all i know so far. have you ever seen anything like this?

Holy hell man. That would make me crap myself too. I have no idea how that could have happened. Unless...did you **** someone off?

EDIT: Pete will know what happened

Looks like a converter bolt fell out. The trans is probably OK, the converter might be OK, although the threads for that bolt will need to be fixed, the fly wheel is probably junk now. Time to upgrade to higher stall and an SFI flywheel.

That bolt may have gotten wedged in there and caused the hole. Untill you get all the parts out and inspected you will not know what is good and what is bad.

Now you have an air cooled bell housing, but as JD said, you need to take a look inside, as you don't know what else could have been damaged. Also it's a bad thing for rotating parts to work with bolts missing as things may let go and do more serious damage.

i talked to another LT1 owner(97) and he said that he had the same issue, but his bolt was longer and it totally stuck in the metal cover. after looking at the bold that i have. it has been clearly broken in more then one piece. it should be about just over an inch. any ideas now?
