i hear ya, and the info you guys gave was informative, just hoping that someday i'll open a thread and someone will have actually gotten their car turbocharged, rather than wondering if turbocharging their 93 v6 camaro with 140k miles is a good idea?

Are you insinuating that turbo charging a 93 V6 with 140k miles is bad...*sigh*

Back to the drawing boards I guess...[>:]

Seriously though, on a forum of this size (current size, hopefully we'll start to grow a little more here in the near future) most people don't have the money to drop on something like that, and since we don't have a huge member base those cars that do have a ton of power parts in them are far a few between. You'll probably see one eventually, but you may have to wait a little while.

ill do you a favor, when i get it i will take pictures through out the entire process and write down the entire process and any problems i have run into, along with my solutions to those problems. Then, i will post the entire project on here to make you happy. it will also be benificial to all those guys who arent sure about what to do but dont want to pay an extra 3 grand to have it professionally done.

I understand where your coming from people do alot of talking but they know they cant ever afford a 5000 turbo system for their car, i on the other hand am deployed coming home with 15000 to work with and a 5000 system for my car would only be a 3rd of my deployment money and i plan on putting the other 10 into retirement.
nice, I wish i had that kind of money to play with, I'm still looking to buy an ls1, still short a couple thousand for a clean, mid-low mileage 4th gen. hopefully by the spring/summer 2009 i'll be set. of course then the 5th gens. will come out and i'll feel left out again

Its a 2002 Z-28 LS-1 Six speed, I am working on having my power of atorney fill out the paperwork for the title and loan, then he is going to drive it back up to his house in minnesota, then when i come home and take leave i will drive it back down to san diego. then the fun work really begins. 20,000 miles is pleanty low enough miles on that motor and tranny to install a rear mounted turbo, i want to set it at about 6 psi so i know im safe, then when i do some major upgrading to the motor i will reset the boost higher. but for now 6 psi is pleanty.

It's funny that you ask this. I'm currently in Kuwait doing the same thing, saving up to throw a turbo on my '98 Z with 54K on her. I found a remote mounted system on hawksthirdgen for $3,995. Does anyone have any experience with this system, is it reliable? Here is the link to the product: http://www.hawksthirdgenparts.com/ca...rbosystem.aspxThanks to y'all for the help.

I want to put a turbo in a 2002 z28. My question is... What do i need to do to the motor its self to keep it from blowing sky high? And, What is the max PSI a stock LS-1 can handle? Also along with the previous question, Howmany PSIis the motor putting out using stock parts and stock settings?

thanks for your help

A lot depends on your your set up. Intercooler and size, turbo size, mounting location, tuning, and fuel all play key factors. 8 PSI is a good rule for most kits out there. Tuning is a near must on the LS1. I also recommend a good fuel pump and injectors to get the most out of the set up
