Turbo for 3.4L on 95' 5-speed?
This may be a stupid question I don't know. I'm 18 so I dont know a lot about cars to begin with. I recently got my first car it was a 95 Camaro (kinda obvious) it has the 3.4L v6 My question is would it be more cost effective to do an engine swap for a v8 (I was thinking the or getting a turbo kit for the v6 it has. I do know that the turbo will have to be tuned to the engine or itll just end up being. Well lets just go with bad. My Dad thinks the engine swap will be more expensive since it may end up needing a bigger transmission. Which I agree with. The 3.4L has SOME power to it. Just noses over once you get into 4th and 5th. Any help is appreciated

The 3.4 is a dead end for you. It will cost you close to 5k to build your own turbo kit and in the end you will still be slower then any 4th gen V8. The biggest issue with the 3.4 is the heads. They flow terrible, A turbo will help push air in but it can't help push air out. With the bottom end of the 3.4 is much stronger then the 3.1 it still not a 300 hp bottom end. The 3800s put in the 1996 up Camaros can handle a turbo a lot better then a 3.4 but even those are hard to get to the 98-02 V8 power.
Swapping to a V8 is not cost effective either. Unlike GMs older cars that are designed to interchange engines the 4th gen Camaro has engine designed to fit in the body. Add to that the fact most of its dash is also controlled by the engine specific PCM your swapping becomes really not worth it. You can buy a low miles 98-02 Z28 for what it would cost you to swap in a small block chevy. Not to mention it is a huge project. I lost count of how many people on this site started this project and never finished it. I can count one hand the people that finished it.
The cheapest easiest way to swap your car to a V8 is to find a wrecked 1995 and swapped everything over. The only problem with that is when you are done the car is near worthless as you can buy non-swapped cars for under 2k. FYI V6 trans do not fit V8s. Since you will need/engine/trans/computer/harnesses/Dash/Coolant system and rear from the V8 car you best beat is buying the whole car.
Your best bet is to just make the 3.4 is the best condition you can and drive it. Look for a LS1 car that has blown head gaskets or needs a transmissions.

Yep, no easy way to do either, for my 2cts I'd just enjoy the car for what it is and save up for an LS1 car ('98-'02).
Maybe you can find a weekend job for extra money or something of that nature, probably a lot less work to make some money than it is to swap a V-8 into that car. Once you're half way there sell the V-6 and get your LS1.
You can find an LT1 ('93-'97) for quite a bit less so that's an option as well but having owned both I can say that for my money the LS1 is not only more powerful but it's also more reliable, simply a better platform.
Hate to rain on your parade but it is what it is.
