Default Trunk Won't Open. Ideas?

I don't have the keys to open the trunk & doors. The guy didn't have them when I bought the car last year. So, I always use the remote to unlock/lock everything. Yesterday morning I had my trunk open to get my ice scraper out, well yesterday afternoon I went to put it back and noticed it wouldn't open.

When you click the release button (inside the car & on the remote) you can hear the trunk click like it's unlocked, but it won't open. And I noticed something else that never happened before, when I lock the car it'll only beep once instead of twice like it use to. I replaced the battery in the remote and still nothing.

Any ideas? The doors unlock and lock just fine. Sounds like the trunk unlocks just fine, but won't open.

I really hate to have to take it to the dealer. If I unhooked the battery would that reset anything to help? Or could the trunk latch be jammed some how?

I have my speaker box back there so I can't get to the latch very well, but from what I saw there was nothing caught in the latch. Is there a release button I can pull or push from the inside?

Unplugging the battery didn't help either. I find it odd that it beeps only once instead of twice. Is there a way to reset the alarm system or see if there is something wrong with it? I don't have much experience with them.

Took it to my uncle, had to end up breaking the trunk lock to get it open since my speaker box was blocking the latch. (didn't matter because I never used it and had no key for it.) And the problem was, on the trunk lock motor whatcamacall it, the piece broke off that moves the rod to unlatch it.

So, going to check autozone to see if they have any. If not, are there any respectable sites that has that part for a good price?

Thanks
