Default Getting trunk open with no keys

Hey does anybody know how to get the trunk open on a 80 with no keys? When I got the car the guy lost the keys to it. There are no keys for the ignition, doors or trunk. how hard would it be to get some keys made for all of this? I need to get the stuff out of the trunk so i can get the car put back together so I can get rid of it.

Take the door lock and ignition out, then take them to a lock smith. Cost me $60 to get keys cut for an eclipse. You can call and see how much to have them come out but that is usually about $100 more. I would at least take the door lock. you can buy a new ignition for like $15.

The door and trunk should be the same.

The other possibility is if you car is like my 78 there is a solenoid to pop the trunk. Strangely I didnt have any button to pop it. But I had the wire, I just had to put 12v to it and it popped. Was a single black wire.

And finally the cheapest, fastest and worse way it to use a screwdriver to basically destroy the lock, you need to turn it clock wise or rip it out. I don't recommend this way it will likely hurt the car.

Well if there's not too much stuff in the trunk you can remove the back seat and pop the latch open from inside. But if the trunk is full you might be better off having a locksmith make keys for the ignition and trunk. You'll probably get more for the car if you're selling it and it has keys, unless it's a junker and not worth the cost.

Guess Chevy changed the lock systems on Camaros from my '71. My glovebox and trunk use one key, then doors and ignition use a separate key.

How do you get through one of those little holes and pop that latch. Mine pops from the back side of the solenoid and has a brace in the way. I have popped hoods from under a car but I have no idea how you would get to that latch.

You can't get your body through the holes, but you can reach with a long screwdriver, or homemade device to stick in the rectangle hole of the latch and turn it from the backseat.

The body on the car is in good shape just a couple little places to fix an fix the windshield & get some keys made is pretty much it besides some little stuff needs done to it. I got the car from the guy that had it to keep him from driving it in my name an risked being sued over it. I am just trying to sell it for what I have in it at $1,800 an get something else if not drive it. It just won't be that much easier than the truck on gas with this 350. So the car won't due much good but as a backup vehicle to the truck from time to time.

Gfrench, yours has a trunk popper? Thats a T/A option. I was gonna swap that from my T/A to my Camaro.

Yes it has a popper. No idea if it was factory. It is old and made of steal not like a modern one. I found the black cable under the set. It wasn't hooked to anything but the little interior I had was in boxes.

So where would the button go in a t/a?

The later cars have on ignition key and a door key that works the trunck and glove box. That is if they are all original.
