trouble starting

Default trouble starting

when I try to start car she starts to spit and stutter but doesn't start then when turn off ht keeps going!
what could be causing this?

If I read you right, the engine only starts once you back the key off? Sounds like it could be the ignition switch (located down lower on top of the steering column), not giving power to the ignition in the start position, but still does in the run position which lets the engine start while it's still zinging over.

LT1 is engine 1994.
It actually doesnt start but still tries when in off position

Maybe switch but I doubt it more like fuel or ignition . Sorta like timing out and pre detention ?

The other day while trying to start it spit and sputtered trying but didnt start then a little tiny puff of smoke came out of top of engine WTF!!
