Same here, I run at 36-38 with no wear issues.
Keep in mind that the car manufacturer recommends tire pressures based on a couple of things; the brand of tire it's equipped with (which in most cases are no longer on the car), and a "happy medium" pressure to satisfy both performance and comfort. Radial tires with lower air pressure can sway more. Higher pressure will stiffen the tire and make it more stable in a turn (to an extent). If the car makers were to recommend a higher pressure to enhance performance, a lot of car buyers would complain about the harsher ride. Hence the "happy medium" recommended pressure.
