Default tire pressure?

So I have a 1997 base v6 with 235/55/r-16 sumitomo htr h4 tires, what tire pressure should i be at? i just checked and i was at 25.5-27.5psi all around and we couldn't find the tire pressure label in the glovebox, door jambs, or gas cap areas.

I tend to run mine higher than the car manufacturer recommends as well. Usually between 36~38, depending on the limit of the tire. More air will give you better gas mileage, but a harder ride. And way too much air making the tires rock hard can cause them to act a little greasy in a swift turn. Experiment.

I run mine between 32 and 35 and find that a nice compromise among road feel/handling, ride, and economy.

Per the FSM:
Front & rear
30 PSI cold normal driving
32 PSI cold high speed driving
compact spare 60 PSI
Wheel nut torque 100 lb. ft. (alloy or steel rims)

Don't go by the pressure shown on the tire. That is the maximum safe pressure and it will give a lousy ride and poor handling. The best pressure is the one that will give even wear across the tire. High pressure will cause the center to bulge out and wear first. Low pressure will allow the center be lower than the sides and the sides will wear first. Proper pressure will give even wear across the face of the tire, and best handling due to more rubber meeting the road. All this assumes correct wheel alighnment.

All depends on how hot the tires were. 35 PSI hot may turn out to be on the low side when checked after the tires cooled. For street cars tire pressure should always be checked after the car has been standing for a good 4-5 hours, like first thing in the morning. For racing purposes the pressure is checked and adjusted at running temp, and is adjusted according to conditions, this would be a real PIA for a street car.

i'd run what pete says bout 30-32, mine are 32 and i have 255/35/18 on some bmw rims.

Craby do you seriously run 40 PSI, how the hell does your car turn, its really bad to run tiress over inflated, wears the middle out and less contact patch on road, ^^^ what pete says

they wear fine and the car handles great. dont like the tire roll on a underinflated tire and the tires are made for a little higher pressure. the guys at the shop put them at 28 once and i could really tell the difference on the corners. less responsive. i like em at 38 to 40.
