Brought my car into my engines class the other day to use the scan tool to see why my check engine light was on. It threw a catalytic converter code. Anyone have any suggestions on some good cats? I was thinkin about going with magnaflow but I decided to wait and see what anyone else would suggest.

Yea I need to be sure that I can pass emissions. It's a big deal for cars in northern virginia

 

How do you guys feel about magnaflow? Is it worth the money or not? I am currently about to put on headers and I already have a flowmaster cat-back.

 

I would probably go Magnaflow, I believe they are stainless steel, flow well and cats help get rid of rasp. I would not want to go catless or gutted-cat, since I HATE rasp! Tried straight-pipe on my old '95, not impressed.

 

The problem with the high flow cats are they'll through codes and they might not pass emissions if they are strick.

 

My car started throwing the P0420 code so I'm not sure if it is cats or my oxygen sensor..

 

It's going to be a o2 sensor. There is no such cat sensor. Test the sensor with a volt meter and make sure is within range.
