Default Thoughts on this CAI

Just asking what the pros here think of this setup. Just not sure how it goes straight down but it does take a 90 turn towards outside my concern is the air damn restricting fresh air.

What is it going in? What year? Z28? 3.4L? 3800?

I recommend going to the spectre website and getting the right parts to do it yourself, and have it go to the right and down like all the others

Looks like you could get a more efficient setup than that. And as low as our cars are, going closer to the ground seems like a great way to risk sucking water into your intake. I think most people go off to the side when they build a cone intake, too.

There are some things I don't like about this setup that I'll express here:

1) That 90*(+) turn. The best intakes around try to make the least amount of bends possible and if a bend is neccessary to make it as small of an angle as possible (15* and 45* are common).

2) Water can easily splash up into the filter. Water in your engine is not something you want...ever.

3) I do not see the air dam restricting air too much and even so, a small section can be cut from it to allow the air to run straight to the filter.

Personally, I'd stick with a normal set up intake and as mention all ready, look into a Spectre set up as you can make the set up how you want. You could even go to your local hardware store and buy PVC pipe and use that. Cheap and doesn't absorb heat like metal does. The downside is it's not gonna look pretty unless you paint it or something.

F bodies are bottom feeders, meaning they actually pull air up from in front of the radiator. This intake is trying to do that, but failing. There are a few other companies that make good intakes that achieve the same thing. The SSRA was the most popular one (though I think a custom one with the title of cr1s or something was also really popular) and worked great.
