Default Teenage Story and a Tech Question

So outside of my ploy to get some help on this, i just feel the need to share my story of teenage embarrassment with some guys who'll probably understand.

So I live in Vegas, and as such, the Strip is a great place to hang out. After being forced to shop for god knows how long, we end up back at the cars in the sprawling underground parking center. We hang around taking until after curfew, and i know i'm SOL to the max. so we go to leave the way we came in. Cones in the way, gates are locked. HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW THIGNS ON THE STRIP EVER CLOSED!!!! so i get out, walk up to her car and she proposes ramming it with her '96 Malibu. Bad plan A in my opinion. So she gets in my car, and here's where the tech comes in. I go to lower my e-brake, and when i release the button with my thumb, it shoots of and ricochets around the cabin. embarassing as hell, i know. but she knows crap about cars i.e. let her malibu go 11k without and oil change.

assuming i find the god damn little button (i have the spring), can anyone tell me how to get it reattached?

and i was only grounded for a week, but for the last week i've been without a handbrake and my life doesnt feel whole when my car isn't right.

That's one of the oddest things i've heard about any car... I would say go to a junk yard or ebay and just buy an entire new lever so it doesnt happen again, the center console is pretty easy to rip out and it will expose the entire lever. Ive never personally replaced an ebrake lever but I wouldnt see it being too complicated if its not engaged. Good luck man.
