Tail light change from 97-98?

Tail light change from 97-98?
We have an arguement going on about the tail lights of a 97 and 98-2002Camaro. I believe the 96-97 Camaro has a dimple on the lights and the 98-2002 has a smooth surface. The lights are interchangeable but if a 1999 Camaro has lights with the dimple it has been replaced with the wrong year part. Does anyone know if this is correct?

Only differences between tail-lights are 97+ have a orange Blinker, and 93-96 just have red and white
Lots of people do the 97+ to 93-96 because it looks cleaner...I like them better as well

Thank you for answering. Thing is now I am more curious as to the indentation on the tail light I have seen on more than one 97 Camaro and now one 99 Camaro. Are they replacement parts? Anyone out there besides those in our car club seen the tail light with the indentation? Again, most are smooth from end to end - others are indented about half way across.

Mmm. Well, thanks anyway. I coined the phrase dimples to describe it - it is an indent a hand full of cars as I described have. If a car has those indents then it can reasonably be determinded they are replacement parts? Sorry about the posts on such a non-important thing
