Default T-Top Conversion

Hey guys! I've been doing some research on this conversion for some time now and I've finally come to the decision to complete the swap. I found a 2000 WS6 that's being parted out on craigslist. The guy says I can take anything I need out of it for my conversion (including the t-tops, a-pillar covers, and all the mounting hardware) all for $200. The only thing he doesn't have is the headliner. I found a few write ups on this conversion and I'm thinking I can get it done in a weekend. I'll, of course, fix all the leaks as I go. I'll have to plan a weekend when there's no rain in the schedule for a week or so. So what do you guys think? I'm planning on getting everything for the swap now and attacking the task in spring.

The pillars on the t/a are different than a camaro.

A friend of mine from Joplin did that to his '96 Z28. It looked great, but I prefer the hardtop.

I'll trim the pillar covers to fit. I've seen it done. And that way I can use the defrost vent as a tweeter pod. That also opens up the option of tripple pillar gauge pods since they don't make one for a hard top pre-97 car.

Concur.
As an owner of both a T-top and a hardtop 4th gens, I prefer the hardtop...

Just remember one mistake and your car is toast. Do a test run on a junker. Also be prepared for alot of body flex.

No more body flex than a factory t-top car. The inner roof structure is already framed out for t-tops (the t-bar is there), the rest of the body is already designed for t-tops, and the plastic roof panel that's on a hardtop gives no body strength. Converting a hardtop to t-tops gives you the same car as a factory t-top model. I'd do the conversion in a heartbeat.
Here's a much much better detailed how-to: http://gripenfelter.fortunecity.com/conversion.html
