Only if one of your tires is slipping with the open differential.

you need to take into account the rest of the drive train as well. with increased traction comes increased torque to the trans and driveline. what trany do you have. also be a good idea to switch to a one piece driveline. if you have a clutch then changing to a higher quality clutch disc and pressure plate would be in order. you may want to switch to 342 gears while the rear unit is out.

Oh, well ive got an auto. And i was planning on putting in 3.73 gears. If im not mistaken, ive got the 460le. This is probably a dumb question, but whats a one piece driveline? What do i have now?

most v6's have a two piece driveline. when you take yours out you will find out. any one piece 4th gen driveline will fit and if you got one with your running gear setup it will fit. you should be good to go.

Question

So are you changing just the carrier or the whole rear-end?

Two different projects of work depending on the choice you make. Plus curiosity, as I plan to do an LSD upgrade to my RS in the near future as well. It's a powerful psychedelic -- take caution! Hahaha
