Default suspension still squeaky....

A while back I got new shocks put on the front of my 95z because one side had locked up. There was also a squeak or creek as I went over bumps, more so when I first started driving as if the suspension kinda warmed up. Odd way to put it I know. Anyways I got the front shocks replaced and everything was great for a few months but the squeak/creek has returned. I haven't had it back in the shop yet. I'm just curious of what it most likely might be. Springs, bushings, lube? It's just strange that it stopped for a bit then returned with the new shocks. It still rides fine.

They can be Very tuff to track down. Basically anything that can move can squeak. Back in the 80's we had a rash of sway bar bushings cause squeaks, Even a hood adjustment can cause a squeak that you would swear was from the front suspension.

What I use to do is take a can of WD40 and spray one thing at a time. The WD40 was not a fix but it would just let me know what to replace. Of course if the issue ends up being a ball joint or tie rod the WD40 will not help except to eliminate everything else.

Thanks. I wouldn't think it would be a ball joint or tie rod as I had those replaced about two years ago. I'll get it in the shop soon hopefully and find out for sure.

finding squeaks in cars is a daunting task. Gorn made a great suggestion of spraying things til you find it but with me, it always seems to be more than 1 thing. These cars are old and rubber stuff is dry. The last squeaker I had was the torque arm bushing. I would bounce the car in the rear and the squeak would be there so i jsut spent a lot of time replacing rear bushings..........squeak still there

I yanked the torque arm, bounced it again...........squeak gone

Oh you gotta be kidding me

live and learn

Back when I was GM tech two things we hated to see on a work order was "Squeak" or "Rattle" on a warranty car. Some times you know right away just from a normal test drive but other times... God knows how many miles I have ridden balances over a engine with a hood on my back or in a trunk while the shop foreman drove trying to track down a noise.
