I purchased a '99 Z28 back during the Summer as a weekend cruiser. I won't be taking it to the drag strip but I do love runs down some twisty 2-lane blacktop every now and then. There is nothing more relaxing to me than taking the t-tops out on a warm spring day and going for a drive.

Anyway, I want to get some better handling out of my Camaro. So, I am looking for suggestions on the best suspension setup for my needs. Remember, I don't need a drag strip setup. What I am looking for is a setup that keeps the body settled and the wheels firmly planted in the twisties when dealing with the inevitable dips that pop up in curves. I do not mind a somewhat firm ride as long as it is not harsh. Thanks for your input.

I haven't lowered a car before, nor have i done reasearch on it so I can't help you much there. I can speak for their shocks however, as being a solid unit that will greatly improve the ride of your fbody.

make sure stab bar bushings and links are fresh!

 

That is a good autocross setup for someone with deep pockets. If you looks at SLP SS setup of Bilstien and heavyer swap bars its a pretty good driver. I would drive that awhile and if you think the car is a little sloppy then do the sub frame conectors and strut tower brace. The 4th gen is a pretty solid car you would have to push it real hard to get much flex out of it unless the car has been used hard for a lot of miles.

 

Thanks guys. I see equipment preferences vary but the concepts seem to largely be the same: 1. Improve dampening and 2. Tighten up the chassis

I think I will approach the upgrades in stages starting with with the Blistiens. Since it is not a daily driver, I may want to lower my Camaro a bit (partially for looks) but I'll see how it behaves with just the shocks first.

I'll be sure to report back and let you all know how it is going. Winter seems to have skipped over Virginia this year so I can get started soon.

Really it depends on how much you're willing to spend, the sky is the limit if you have deep pockets like Gorn said. I have roughly a grand in my suspension (and that's just parts) and could easily spent a lot more.

Depending on the miles the first thing would be to upgrade those shocks, the factory ones are not that great. Strano sells the BTS kit so I'm guessing it's a good product. Since it's a weekend cruiser that might be a good fit.
