Starter not engaging
Hey guys,
Thanks for the help on the fuel injector write up. It was as you said, the fuel filter was marginal and I was not getting steady pressure. Also one of the plastic fuel return lines(do not care for these), was not sealing correctly.
So I had the rear of the car on stands, doing the fuel problem. Repaired that and while idling for about 5 minutes the car just quit running. Thought that the fuel lines had not purged yet so I went to start it again. Immediately the starter would not turn over, car is still in garage and this is cruising weather! I do not think that the VAT is acting up, Key resistor reads 879 ohms, the security light goes out if I leave the key turned over. Security light is not flashing. Starter was checked as good, although the amps were at 150 when spring picked up. Cleaned all the connections for starter. Good volts at the starter connections and a hot battery.
What can I check, when the starter will not turn over? I know of the VAT but what else can cause this? I have the OBD 1 codes from shbox.com, will try to isolate anything that pertains.
Thanks for the time, pedal to the metal!

Is the starter engaging and not spinning? Can you hear the solenoid working? Have you tried to jump the starter solenoid & see if the starter engages. What codes are you getting?

Hello,
The solenoid is not engaging at all. I am getting schematics to see if signal is getting to the solenoid wire, at all. I did jumper out the starter and all it did was run on, would not pick up on the spring. Had starter checked, amps were high but checked good. Put in a 900 amp battery I had thinking amps could be to high for starter, trying to get it to turn over. I can pull out on the key some and the security light will flash, but normally turning over the key the security light goes out normally.
Thanks.

I am having this same issue sorta. I can turn the key and get all the electronics, but the starter will not engage. It is driving me crazy. I have replaced the key tumbler and I have a new ignition switch.... but I have no idea what it could be. Because my remote start still works luckily. lol I am thinking about just running my own hot wire to the starter and putting in a push button start, but we will see.
Its crazy, I am thinking it has something to do with the security. But not sure. The security light flashes and I am pretty sure the the remote start must be tied in after the security so it can still start with the remote. I need to get my volt meter out and see where I am getting power and where I am not... This evening I might be able to get to it.
