I've got a 97 Z28, and I've just put a SS fiberglass hood on it. It looks awesome. My question is what to do about the "hole" in the scoop. Right now it's solid fiberglass. I assume it's not a good idea to just cut the hole open and leave it open. Rain would get in. I've been trying to find someplace that sells the scoop insert, like the black plastic mesh or whatever it is. I can't find it anywhere, even places that sell the hoods. I know I could just paint it black, but I'm not sure about that. Anyone have any suggestions on where I might get that insert, or what to do about the "hole" for the scoop?

 

Well I solved it myself. I got some tread tape from Lowes, painted it flat black, and put it on. The tape is exactly 2 inches wide, same as the scoop insert, and I just cut it to length and rounded off the corners and stuck it on there. Surprisingly, it looks perfect!
