Default speedo not working :(

Hello, I'm new to this site and last week I bought a '95 camaro convertible (3.8 v6). There is a warranty on the trans, so I assume it has been rebuilt or replaced. I've looked under the car at the trans and everything seems to be hooked up. The speedometer doesn't work so I'm trying to figure out where the VSS is and how I can test it. I assume it's a VSS problem. Any input would be appreciated.

Sorry for the double post, but I found a sensor at the rear of the trans that has a yellow wire and a purple wire. It appears to be the VSS, but I'm not sure. If this is it, how would I go about testing/ replacing this?

I replaced the speed sensor and reset the computer. Still no speedometer. It's throwing a trouble code P1870 (TCC slipping). Anyone?

Yikes. Have the transmission properly looked over at the shop that it is under warranty. A TCC slipping is the first signs of transmission failure. Note the VSS, and have them look at it, too.
