Default Spark Plugs

I have the 5.7L LT1 V8 engine with the same spark plugs that came with the car 15 years ago . Right now the engine has 54K miles on her and I'm trying to get started for 3 season drive time.

Question; What plugs do I get? I looked at autozone and they have a set of Acdelco Rpdfire Platinum plus for about $5.00 each. They also have a set of Bosch Platinum+4 for about $6.00 each. I know that the AC/Delcos maybe the ones that came with the car, however I want to know if the Bosches offer better performance than the delco. I don't want to pay more for the Bosch just to get the same performance. Thanks!

In general Bosch is the slightly better make. Ive used the Super 4's in most of my high performance cars and never had any issues. I currently have a set in my Mercedes. Never used Delco so couldn't offer any power differences.

The Bosch Plat +4 plugs will not work right in your engine. Trust me here, I work at O'Reilly's and I sell this stuff. The Plat+4 plug works great in high revving small engines but not in engines with large displacements and slower rotating speeds. The rapidfire plugs would work great in your engine, factory came with regulat platinum. Iridium plugs would not hurt here either, those were used on later Camaros.

Oh and stay away from the E3 plugs too... They are great for lawnmowers but not cars or trucks.

hey massey thanks for the info. didnt realise the bosch plugs couldnt be used for the 3.8. ive always used them as said but alol my cars have been relatively small engines. no bigger than 2 liters. which would be best then between iridium and platinum??

I put my money on the Iridiums. They have a very fine center electrode that helps create a better flame kernel and that amounts to a better burn for better emissions and performance. The old Rapidfire plugs with the serrated center did the same thing but these are made out of a harder material and are not as complex to make. The new rapidfire plugs dont have that unique electrode so they dont work as well.
